"I can’t force peace on the world" - March/April Yoga News

Dear Everyone,

"I can’t force peace on the world, but I can become a force of peace in the world"*

It's hard not to feel a bit useless, angry and anxious - and guilty about our comparatively luxurious lifestyle - with all the suffering in the world at the moment. Of course, emotions like these are natural, healthy, and good to express - so long as we don't let them become overwhelming.

When the outside world gets scary and uncomfortable, or our personal life gets tough, or things just don't turn out as expected, it's useful to focus on the positive things we can do, rather than mourn the things we can't. Using our time or money to show support and solidarity, for example, or practising a bit of extra patience with loved ones, or maybe just smiling at a stranger in the street.

All of this can take a lot of effort, so we need to use our yoga practice to support us with some extra energy and strength. Tomorrow's donation based/free yoga class for Ukraine will do just that, with an asana practice focused on building a strong, steady body, and breathing and meditation to ground and calm our minds. Do let me know if you'd like to join (5.30pm-6.30pm on Zoom)

I am hoping the global situation will have improved by the time we meet for the one day small group mini retreat on April 30th in beautiful Henley-on-Thames. There are just two places left for this day - so please do contact me for more information or book via the website.

With very best wishes to all of you,

Caroline
