Better than an Airbus A320?

Dear Everyone,

Last weekend I was walking across a field of wheat and poppies when a white and blue A320 flew overhead. As I thought about how few aeroplanes I had seen over the past 15 months, my mind turned to yoga and the different kind of planes we meet with in every class.

As regular students know, our sequence of postures changes week to week but always includes backbends, forward bends, side-bends and rotations (or 'twists'). We often go 'upside-down' too!

It would make for a fairly unpleasant ride if your BA or Easyjet flight did all this at once, but moving the human body in all these different directions take us through the three anatomical planes of movement, crucial for keeping our bodies strong and mobile, especially when our lives tend to be dominated by unidirectional activities like sitting, walking and running.

So, while they won't whisk us away to a dip in the Med, a Greek music night or a 'real' curry, we can rest in the knowledge that the (much lower carbon!) planes we meet in class will help keep us fit and healthy for when it is easier to travel further afield.

In other news...I wanted to let you all know that Thursday classes will be staying on-line for the foreseeable future. 92% of people who kindly answered the survey wanted to stay on zoom! So stay we will.

That said, I am keen to ascertain interest for an IN PERSON small group one-day retreat in Henley-on-Thames on Saturday 18 September. This would include two yoga classes (one to energise, one to relax - hopefully outdoors in a beautiful garden) a yummy lunch (with cake of course) and possibly a boat trip on the river. All as airy and covid-secure as possible (please note venue only allows double vaccinated people). The cost for this day would be in the region of £70. Please let me know if this appeals!
