‘Tech neck’? Or ‘Text neck’?! Whatever you call it, phone and computer induced neck, back and shoulder pain are now major problems for a lot of us, leading to a staggering 50 million lost working days every year and costing the economy £5 billion!*
With this in mind, I was pleased to spend some time in March working with staff at various University Colleges to run my ‘Reversing Computer Posture’ workshop. This 50 minute workshop begins with a short presentation on what happens to the body when we slump at a desk before half an hour of simple desk based stretches to help alleviate aches and improve posture. It is suitable for everyone and all participants leave with a self-practice handout so they can keep up with the good work! Do let me know if you think your organisation might benefit…..
It’s been a full month for workshops with the ‘Making Space for Spring’ workshop taking place on a beautifully warm and sunny afternoon in Primrose Hill. It was great to see students from different classes practising together to calm and lengthen the breath and create more space in the spine, shoulders and hips… before yummy carrot flapjack and blueberry granola bars.
Following the feedback from this workshop I am really please to invite you all to a one day relaxing and re-energising summer retreat in beautiful rural Berkshire on Sunday 13th August. Less than an hour from central London (and easily accessed by public transport) our retreat will take place in a peaceful hall in Remenham, a tiny village on the banks of the river Thames surrounded by fields and woodland (see photo below).
We will start with a late morning session of flowing yoga (possibly in the hall’s gardens) designed to build flexibility, stamina and strength, followed by a delicious lunch made from local produce. There will then be the opportunity to take a leisurely walk in the scenic surroundings before a more gentle and restorative yoga class. The day will end with a deep guided relaxation known as yoga nidra.
The cost for the day is £64 (£58 if booked before 1st May) to include two extended yoga practises, a lunch of local produce and all drinks and homemade cakes! Please click here for more information and let me know if you have any questions or would like to book a place.
Have a very Happy Easter!
