Why Wait? Primrose Hill Yoga February/March News

Dear Everyone,

As someone who chooses not to own a car, I seem to spend a lot of time waiting for buses, long distance trains and other modes of public transport.

I expect we all feel we spend a lot of time waiting; at the till, in the doctors or for a friend who is running late. However, a bit of googling reveals that the average time spent waiting in a supermarket queue is less than two minutes, with the tube platform equivalent at roughly 30 seconds.

How about reducing this time to zero? Eliminating waiting time from my life is something I have been working on over past year or so.

An easy solution would of course be to swap my waiting time for web time, standing (as I am aware I often do) with my neck craning forwards and shoulders rounding over a tiny screen.

Instead, I am on a mission to use my waiting time for some basic practices that benefit my physical and mental wellbeing. For example, spreading my weight evenly across my feet, relaxing my shoulders and softening my jaw, or trying to stay focused on the soft steady rise and fall of my belly as I breathe in and out. When I’ve succeeded the time seems to whizz by and before I know it I am on the move again, occasionally even wishing I had a little longer to wait!

There is rather more time to wait however, before the next day retreat on Sunday September 8th in stunning Hambleden village, set in peaceful countryside just an hour from London and the location for numerous film and TV productions including ‘Midsomer Murders’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ and ‘101 Dalmatians’.

This mini retreat will follow a similar format to recent day retreats in Oxfordshire and Berkshire, exploring elements of the yoga practice that we don’t have time for in weekly classes, along with more familiar asanas and breathing practices. The day costs £74 pp (or £68 if booked before 1 April) to include all teas, lunch, homemade cakes, a guided walk and two lovely long yoga practices. Please click here for more details. Spaces are filling up so do let me know if you’d like to book!

Wishing you wonderful waiting time!

Caroline
